The best Sangiovese grapes from Podere Giodo are harvested for Brunello di Montalcino by Carlo Ferrini. At an altitude of 300mt a.s.l, the soil is medium-textured with pebble content. The grapes have a 9 day fermentation in steel tanks, with 20 days on the skins. There is approx. 30 months in large 500 and 700 litre oak casks, followed by additional time in concrete vats and 18 months in bottle.
Tasting Notes:
Intense, plush, and complex red with deep ruby colour, showing notes of red and dark cherries, blackberry, violet, herbs (rosemary, saffron), earthy undertones, and hints of spice, chocolate, and orange peel. Balanced by firm yet fine tannins and a long, elegant finish, capturing the warmth of the vintage while maintaining Giodo's signature elegance and concentration.
Serving Suggestions:
Pairs well with rich, savoury Italian dishes, red meats, aged cheeses and hearty bold flavours.
