Based west of Pauillac, Château Grand Puy Lacoste is a prestigious 5ème Cru Classé estate where the vines stem from coarse gravel-based, limestone soil. The vineyards contain 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc with an average age of 38 years old. This wine is a blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Merlot. Ageing took place In French oak barrels (75% new barrels each vintage).
Tasting Notes:
“Traditional and classic Pauillac character, a little more old school than usual, certainly than the last few years. Plum, cassis, cocoa bean and liquorice keep things firm, with straight-laced tannins tight and pulled in. Will soften further over ageing, and no question that this is delivering appellation typicity.” - Score: 93 - Jane Anson, JaneAnson.com, April 2022
Serving Suggestions:
Pairs well with all classic types of meat: veal, pork, beef & lamb.
