For 2026, the reverse of the coin features Benedetto Pistrucci’s iconic St George and the dragon design, which first appeared on The Sovereign in the nineteenth century. The obverse of the 2026 Bullion Sovereign features the official coinage portrait of His Majesty King Charles III, designed by Martin Jennings.

The 2026 Gold Sovereign Coins mark the notable return to the classic 'yellow gold' look of the original sovereigns, moving away from the 'rose gold' coins of recent years.
