Owned by the iconic luxury goods house, Chanel, Château Rauzan Segla was ranked as one of fourteen Second Growth wines in the 1855 classification. After introducing hand-harvesting and planting more Merlot vines, this 51 hectare vineyard stands at a blend of 61% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot and 2% of both Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot.
Tasting Notes:
“This is just the most delicious Rauzan Ségla, so much depth, carefully placed black cherry, damson and blueberry fruits, juicy even though still so young. A vintage that has plenty of tannic architecture, softened by cocoa bean, liquorice and rosebud, love it. 42hl/h yield, 60% new oak, 3.73ph. Harvest 12th September to October 9th. Nicolas Audbert director, Eric Boissenot consultant. An upscore since I last tasted this wine.” Score: 96 - Jane Anson, JaneAnson.com, January 2023
Serving Suggestions:
Pairs well with red meat, poultry, game, mushroom and cheese dishes.
