In 1552 and in the heart of Margaux, Château Giscours founder, Pierre de Lhomme, began planting the first vines where the Château went on to be recognised as a Third Grand Cru Classe in 1855. Giscours’ 40 hectares of vines are located on deep gravel hilltops where the sun rays build the optimum ripening conditions. This wine is a blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon , 32% Merlot and 3% Petit Verdot. Ageing took place for 17 months in French oak barrels (50% new)
Tasting Notes:
“Enticing vibrant ruby red in colour, medium intensity. The fruit is savoury and lean, liquorice and rose petals, raspberry leaf, finessed and sculpted, Margaux typicity, carefully extracted and handled but more austere than recent vintages of Giscours.” - Score 93 - Jane Anson, JaneAnson.com, December 2023
Serving Suggestions:
Pairs well with all classic meat dishes, fish and Asian dishes.
