More than a hundred years ago the founder of the winery, Don Melchor Concha y Toro, hid a prized collection of wines in his personal cellar. In order to safeguard his treasured wines against thieves, Don Melchor spread the rumour that the devil himself inhabited his cellars.
This story became the inspiration for the unique name of the Casillero Del Diablo wines which would see it crossing borders into international markets and becoming one of the most famous Chilean wine brands in the world.
