Chateau Clerc Milon is based in a unique location and covers 41 hectares (100 acres) in a single sweep. Most of the vineyard was planted in the early 20th century thus has one of the oldest plots of Carmenere in the Bordeaux vineyard. The natural landscape of the vineyard has been shaped over time to form a terrace of gravel and sand and pebbles resting on a clay-limestone base creating the perfect growing conditions for all the traditional grape varieties.
Tasting Notes:
“Just so much joy to be had here. Precision architecture from the first moment, velvet texture, well balanced, tiptoes through the palate and builds slowly, delivering inky glass-staining colour. Sweet and seductive, with plump damson and black cherry fruits, and waves of aniseed and fennel on the finish. As with the 2009 this it will close up soon, as these tannins have bite, so expect it to keep building and deepening over the next decade. Jean Emmanuel Danjoy's last full vintage, before he headed over to Mouton Rothschild in 2020. Harvest September 19 to October 9.” Score: 95 - Jane Anson, JaneAnson.com, October 2022
