Domaine Sylvain Cathiard et Fils Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru "Aux Thorey" is primarily sourced from a dedicated 0.43-hectare parcel of vines planted in 1953, located high on the slope near the Vosne-Romanée border. This 2023 vintage is a blend of 100% Pinot Noir. The estate is managed with organic principles (not certified), and this vintage was crafted following the same meticulous care as the domaine's iconic Vosne-Romanée wines, utilizing 100% de-stemmed fruit and natural yeasts. It was aged in French oak barrels (approximately 50% new) for 18 months, resulting in a wine of striking perfume and mineral elegance.

Tasting Notes:

"Exquisite aromas of red cherry, wild strawberry and wilted rose petals with a hint of flinty mineralité follow through to a medium body and a solid palate with powerful, ultrafine and linear tannins. The muscle and long finish are so beautiful. The 2023 is an especially focused Aux Thorey endowed with tons of richness as well as structure... Red/purplish fruit, lavender, graphite, sage and a touch of spice build into the substantial finish. The 2023 is shaping up to be a jewel of a wine."
