Product Details

Domaine Heresztyn-Mazzini Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Perrières 2022 is primarily sourced from dedicated parcels of old vines located within the prestigious Les Perrières climate, a small but splendid Premier Cru situated just below Mazis-Chambertin in the northern Côte de Nuits. This cuvée represents one of the domaine’s most elegant offerings, characterized by its shallow, stony limestone soils that impart a distinct mineral signature. This vintage is a blend of 100% Pinot Noir. The estate is managed with organic and biodynamic practices (Ecocert certified), and this cuvée is crafted with meticulous attention to terroir, utilizing approximately 50% whole-bunch fermentation to enhance aromatic lift and structural precision. It was aged in French oak barrels (approximately 30–35% new) to preserve its fresh, vibrant fruit character while allowing for graceful maturation.

Florence Heresztyn and her husband Simon Mazzini took over the estate from Florence's parents and uncle with the 2012 vintage and have made great progress since then. The wines are now certified organic and biodynamic. This is a fine estate in the very centre of a famous village. Florence's grandfather arrived as an agricultural worker from Poland in the 1930s, and gradually built up the estate. The Perrières vineyard is situated just to the south of the village, and lies below the Grand Cru vineyard, Mazis Chambertin.

Tasting Notes:

It is a slightly atypical wine for Gevrey Chambertin, as the style is a little lighter, less tannic and more perfumed then often is found from this village. But this does make the wine a little more supple and easier to enjoy at an early stage. In the 2022 vintage we are presented with a beautifully refined and harmonious wine showing lively red and black fruit flavours dancing above a firm, spicy backbone before a lingering wave of steely, minerality.

Serving Suggestion:

Pairs best with robust dishes such as roast duck or goose, venison, mushroom tart and cheese dishes.
