Domaine Confuron-Gindre Bourgogne Rouge 2023 is primarily sourced from dedicated parcels of vines (some aged over 50 years) located within the Bourgogne appellation, with key plots situated in the prestigious ''clay-limestone'' terroirs of the Côte de Nuits. This cuvée represents a blend of several high-quality climates, including the ''Champs d'Argent'' and ''Croix Blanches'' parcels near Vosne-Romanée. This vintage is a blend of 100% Pinot Noir. The estate is managed with sustainable practices, and this cuvée is crafted with the same meticulous attention to terroir as the domaine's village and premier cru wines. It was aged in French oak barrels for approximately 12 months to preserve its fresh, vibrant fruit character while adding a refined structure.

Claudine and François run this excellent family domaine based in Vosne Romanée. They were joined by their son Edouard in 2014, and their reputation is growing impressively. With every passing year, these wines have become more polished and complex. They were always powerful, but now they are a little slimmer, sleeker and there is no doubt of the progress in the last few vintages. This is a Bourgogne Rouge, the entry-level of their range, which is fruity and approachable yet offers wonderful elegance, with all of the grapes coming from well-located vineyards in the Vosne-Romanée commune.

Tasting Notes:

The wine is juicy and fruity, but with a firm backbone and sappy tannins. Ripe black fruit flavours and notes of sweet spice come through beautifully, with just a slightly oaky touch from its 12 months ageing in barrel.

Pairs best with robust dishes such as roast chicken or duck confit, mushroom pasta and cheese dishes.
