From the vineyard of Château Saintayme stands 9 hectares of almost 100% Merlot vines at an age of almost 35 years. To create the classic Bordeaux style, Denis Durantou picks these grapes fresh - not overripe - from cooler limestone and clay soils.

Tasting Notes:

“Blue fruits, earth, tobacco, as it opens you get rosebud, heather and raspberry leaf, with an austere crushed stone edge. As things open, the fruits become creamier but this could do with a few more years to fully soften. Harvest October 1 to 4. 30% new oak.” Score: 92 - Jane Anson, JaneAnson.com, December 2021
