Product Details

Chateau Les Ormes De Pez St Estephe 2022 is primarily sourced from dedicated parcels of vines (averaging over 35 years of age) located within the Saint-Estèphe appellation in the northern Médoc. This cuvée represents a blend of several high-quality climates, drawing fruit from approximately thirty-five hectares of vines split between the gravelly soils of the Garonne, which provide elegance, and clay-heavy plots typical of the appellation for power and water retention. This vintage is a blend of 54% Merlot, 34% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Petit Verdot. The estate is managed with a philosophy of minimal intervention, and this cuvée is crafted with the same meticulous attention to terroir as the Cazes family's iconic Château Lynch-Bages, utilizing state-of-the-art facilities and precise plot selection to manage the intensity of the solar vintage. It was aged in French oak barrels (with a proportion of new oak, typically around 45%) to preserve its fresh, vibrant fruit character.

This is one of the great estates of this famous village. The Cazes family has had a huge impact on the development of the domaine, ensuring it remains a benchmark for the Saint-Estèphe appellation. Purity and clarity of style are the hallmarks here, with an essence of exuberance, but somehow also restrained fruit showing how Bordeaux can be so intense yet delicate.

Tasting Notes:

A robust and deeply colored wine, offering an expressive nose of crushed blackberries, dark currants, and black cherries, layered with hints of cedar, graphite, and dried herbs. On the palate, it is full-bodied and well-concentrated, with a firm yet ripe tannic structure that provides a solid backbone for the rich black fruit. Despite its power, the wine remains balanced by a refreshing acidity and a savory, mineral-driven finish.

Serving Suggestion:

Pairs perfectly with hearty meat dishes such as roasted venison, grilled lamb shanks, or a classic entrecôte bordelaise. Also complements aged hard cheeses like sharp Cheddar or Mimolette.
