Château Haut-Brion is one of Bordeaux’s most historic wine estates and was included among the First Growths in the 1855 Classification. Unlike the other First Growths of the Médoc, it is located in Pessac-Léognan just southwest of the city of Bordeaux. The vineyard covers roughly 50 hectares planted mainly on deep gravel soils mixed with sand and clay, conditions that contribute to the estate’s distinctive complexity and longevity.
Tasting Notes:
A complex bouquet combining dark berries, cedar, tobacco and earthy nuances. The palate is full-bodied and layered, with dense fruit supported by fine-grained tannins and vibrant balance. The wine finishes long and structured, reflecting the power and refinement typical of the estate.
Serving Suggestions:
This wine is best served with sophisticated dishes such as roasted venison with a cocoa-infused reduction, slow-braised beef cheek, or a rack of lamb with a truffle crust. For cheese, it pairs excellently with aged Mimolette or an earthy Saint-Nectaire.
