Kirkland Signature Alexander Valley Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon 2019, 75cl

 

The near-perfect 2016 growing season started early, saw ideal weather conditions throughout and wrapped up as the valley's first significant fall rainstorm arrived on 14th October. Thanks to a relatively steady and mild July and August and then a series of warm days at the end of the growing season, vineyards were able to progress to perfect ripeness.

Each of the Alexander Valley vineyards are carefully farmed to produce a finely layered Cabernet Sauvignon.

Tasting Notes:

Thick skins and balanced acidity result in rich tannins and superior colour while flavours of cherry, ripe plums and black currants combine with savoury notes of black tea and leather. American oak delivers a touch of vanilla while French oak contributes character and complexity to the wine which finishes with a burst of sun-ripened fruit.

Pairing Notes:

Best served with blue cheese burgers, Rosemary braised lamb shanks, slow cooker beef stew, filet mignon, cheese and mushroom pizza, garlic chicken wings, olives, tomato, roasted garlic and goats cheese tart.
