Owned by the 10th generation of the Barton family, Chateau Langoa Barton is located in the Saint-Julien appellation. Overlooking the river the terroir consists of quaternary gravel allowing the grapes to fulfil their full maturing potential. A blend of 67% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26% Merlot and 7% Cabernet Franc, the wine is aged for 16 - 18 months in French oak barrels (60% new) in a cellar with a maintained temperature of 15℃.
Tasting Notes:
“Muscular tannins here, a little less succulent than the 2018 vintage but with greater structure and control, along with St Julien finesse. This is flush with cassis and blueberry fruits, alongside liquorice root, black chocolate, dark pepper spice, a ton of bristling tannins and a fresh core. Another brilliant vintage for a resurgent Langoa.” Score: 94 - Jane Anson, JaneAnson.com, October 2021
Pairing Suggestions:
Pairs well with beef, lamb and game.
