With a vineyard area of 93 hectares, the vines at Chateau Cantemerle have an average age of 40 years grown in silica-gravel soils of the quaternary area. A blend of 68% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc and 4% Petit Verdot, this wine was aged for 12 months in French oak barrels (40% new).
Tasting Notes:
“Plenty of smoked cedar oak on the opening beats, this is full-throated in its extraction, but comes across as confident rather than too much, and as it softens the damson and black cherry fruits are attractive. A healthy 55hl/h yield, with 40% new oak.” Score: 92 - Jane Anson, JaneAnson.com, October 2021
Serving Suggestions:
Pairs well with red meat, charcuterie and cheese.
