Virgin Experience Days Penguin Feeding Experience at Drusillas Park For One Person (6 Years +)

If you have a love for Penguins, then you should take on this encounter at the fabulous Drusillas Park. Spend your day at the park getting to know all the animals and enjoying the surroundings before you take a peek behind the scenes. In the afternoon meet our charming Humboldt penguins.

Our family of Humboldt penguins will be thrilled to welcome you. You’ll recognize these endangered species by their smart ‘dinner jacket’ appearance and unique spotted bellies. Enter their enclosure, learn how they are cared for, prepare their fishy treats and help to feed them. You’ll not forget this experience in a hurry; the memory of these intriguing characters will stay with you forever.

You will be met by an animal keeper at the park who will give you a behind the scenes tour before escorting you to the Penguin enclosure, where you will receive a health and safety briefing. Once you have been fully briefed, the keeper will discuss the two different species, their conservation status in the wild and how the Park cares for them on a daily basis.

You will then get hands-on experience of preparing their food before helping to feed them. After they have all been fed you will have the opportunity to get lots of up close photographs. Participants are welcome to arrive early and stay until the park closes to enjoy other attractions and animals.

Participant guidelines

Minimum age: 6 (under 16s must be accompanied by an adult with a valid day ticket)

To be able to take part in this experience, participants must have an up to date tetanus vaccination 

Please note that this experience is for one participant. Spectators will not be able to accompany the voucher holder during their experience

Entry to Drusillas Park is included for the Close Encounter participant/s. Additional (non-participating) guests will require a valid day ticket:

Adult or Child 2yrs+: £28.50

Seniors 60+: £26.50

Availability 

This experience is run daily except Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

It is recommended that you book at least four to six weeks in advance to ensure that dates are available.  All bookings are subject to availability.

Your experience will last approximately 30 to 40 minutes, however you are welcome to spend all day at the park.

What to wear

You should wear walking or wellington boots and comfortable casual clothing suitable for the time of year and weather conditions.

Weather

The experience will run in most weather conditions except in heavy snow. In the unlikely event of cancellation due to weather, an alternative date will be offered

Insurance

The centres contracted with us hold public liability insurance. We also hold contingency liability cover. You will not be liable for accidental damage to equipment, except where damage has been caused as a result of recklessness or wilful negligence.

Delivery Guideline

Experience vouchers are despatched by Royal Mail First Class Post, and will be delivered within 3-5 working days.
