History and tradition shoes that Panettone is a typical Milanese dessert, associated with the gastronomic traditions of Christmas. Legend has it that, around 1500, the Duke of Milan's cook, having ruined the dessert for Christmas lunch in the oven, asked his assistant Toni to help him prepare a dessert with the ingredients left in the pantry, namely flour, butter, eggs, some citron peel and some raisins. The result was exciting and from there it was called ''Pan del Toni''.
