This Malbec has been aged for 9 months in first and second use oak barrels. It displays ripe plum and violet aromas, a delicate attack on the mouth, and sweet tannins. The integration between wood and fruit gives it a balance on acidity where fruity aromas prevail.
"The lively colour of the 2013 Tonel 46 Malbec speaks about a fresh wine with good acidity. The fruit is sourced from the zone of Chacayes in Tunuyá:n in the Uco Valley. The wine matured in second-use French oak barrels and its aromas are still quite obvious, but the concentration of fruit and the notes of ripe cherries, plums and blueberries intermixed with some violets are also strong. They also are noticeable in the palate, where you feel a lot of licorice. The tannins are very smooth and it has good freshness. I'd like to see how this evolves in bottle, as I believe it will get better over time." :Luis Guité:rrez, Wine Advocate Edition #220, August 2015.
