A rare blend of extremely old eaux-de-vie, aged to perfection and meticulously blended, marrying the Grand Champagne and Borderies crus, starting at the delicate age of 35 and maturing up to and beyond 50 years old. Internationally recognised as richer, smoother and more mature than its contemporaries. Initiale Extra is the embodiment of understated perfection, very rich and complex. Fragrances start with humid forest and rich truffle aromas, then port wine and cedarwood, followed by spicy hints of hot fruitcake, capturing cinnamon, orange peels and dry apricot.
At Courvoisier, our ageing warehouses retain the same floors they’ve had for centuries. In these naturally humid conditions, the exquisite aroma of truffles gently develops over time. Deliciously evocative, this aroma is born of the maturation of the very old Borderies grapes at their absolute peak. During the long ageing process, the volume of cognac gradually reduces, making it more concentrated. This gives it the ''rancio'' aroma - earthy and mushroom tones.
