Each autumn, a new collection of Special Releases from Diageo lead the way. Every single one is special, introducing a world of flavour, rarity and desire beyond the everyday. Almost all are at cask strength. They include small releases from fabled closed distilleries and supreme examples of the less well known, as well as unusual expressions of more familiar names. Many can only be released in tiny quantities.

This Blair Athol 23 Year Old whisky is rich, smooth, fruity and rare. Rarely seen as a single malt and should be far better known. This is the first Blair Athol in this series, offering a superb expression of the rich, nutty-spicy distillery character. A real winter warmer, with plenty of lively fruit and spice to cut through its thick, sweet nature and reveal its true complexity. Aged 23 years in fine ex-bodega European oak, from the Gateway to the Highlands, Pitlochry, in Perthshire. With bronze and magenta hues, there are aromas of peanut brittle and honey, toffee and caramel with warming spice and chocolate notes. This whisky is medium to full bodied, with an oily and rich texture. Sweetly fragrant and spicy, as the sweetness of mint creams and caster sugar fades to leave a herb garden after rain and soft, oaky spice. With an aroma of flowers and raisin fruit, leading to a flavour of toffee apple and cinnamon spice.
