Akashi Single Malt Whisky is made at the White Oak distillery in Hyogo, west of Kobe, Japan. A powerful single malt combining the best of vanilla and american oak notes culminating in an aura of delicious maltiness. This whisky has been matured for 2 years in sherry butts and finished with 3 years in hagsheads giving the whisky a touch of sherry, camomile and malt on the nose. There is a rounded creamy vanilla taste on the palate and a strong woody finish. This non-age-statement release ought to prove rather interesting for whisky adventurers looking to try something new.
