A traditional, crumbly English cheese, the Appleby Cheshire is orange in colour and bursting with flavour. It is subtle with a delicate fresh taste and grassy notes. An unpasteurised cow's milk cheese made using the milk from the farm's own herd grazing on the Cheshire Plains.
The Appleby family have refused to buy in milk or change their old fashioned recipe and have been making cheese at Hawkstone Abbey Farm since 1952. In the 1930's there were 1200 traditional Cheshire cheese makers, now there are a handful and Appleby's stands out as the very best.
This Appleby Cheshire is perfect as part of a ploughman's lunch or cheese board with pickles and a cold glass of beer.
