The warm and sunny climate was not ideal for aciditiy preservation, so the aim of the respected Alsace vineyard, situated at the heart of the region's prime wine-growing district, was for an elegant, late harvest wine, with the perfect balance of acidity, sweetness and alcohol.
The 2011 Clos Jebsal reveals a more mineral character than usual with delicate and descreet scents of black tea and wild flower without the classic heavy noble rot influence. From start to finish, the palate shows a pleasant sweetness, again without heavy botrytis character and long lees contact has left nutty and toasty aromas in the wine. It has a moderate acidity, but the wine expresses a quiet easiness and delicious mouth-feel, probably due to the high phenolic ripeness of the grapes.
It drinks well now, but can keep for up to 15 years.
