As of the 8th April 2009 over 555 locations worldwide, 40 states of the USA & Puerto Rico (408 locations), 9 Canadian provinces (76 locations), the United Kingdom (21 locations), Korea (6 locations), Taiwan (5 locations through 55%-owned subsidiary) and Japan (8 locations), as well as 31 warehouses in Mexico through a 50%-owned joint venture. Costco provides a wide selection of merchandise, plus the convenience of speciality departments and exclusive member services. An annual membership fee is charged to all who wish to shop.
Why charge a Membership fee?
Our operating philosophy is simple. Keep the costs down and pass the savings on to our members. By charging a small annual membership fee, we are able to offset many of our operating costs and then price our merchandise even lower. Our tremendous buying power, combined with our never-ending quest for efficiency, results in the lowest possible prices for our members. This benefits the members who spend the most.
How do I pay?
We accept payment in cash, cheques and Delta / Switch cards.Can my friends shop with my card?
No, your card has your photograph imprinted on it. If anyone tries to enter a warehouse and they do not match the picture they will be turned away.
